This is phase 2 of a project that I’ve been working on that combines complex geometry / plexus 3D objects designed in C4d, with planter systems designed for succulents. I’ve been printing this design on my Ultimaker 2 in a variety of biodegradable materials including, Bamboo, Coffee, Silk, Wood, Algae and straight corn-based PLA. I’ve also been trying a variety of succulents to determine which grow better in which mediums. Future plans include water and light detection sensors and possibly a rotation system for the larger interlocking ring, allowing the plants to move themselves into the light / water based on their needs. I’m also working on a more complex capillary action based watering system that will draw water up from the basin as needed. More updates to come…
